Our Story
Fifteen years of patient watchmaking in Bangkok
A small team, a considered approach, and a genuine fondness for the craft — that's Bualuang Horology.
Back to HomeWho We Are
A workshop built on patience and honesty
Bualuang Horology opened in 2009 on Ratchadamnoen Road in Phra Nakhon, chosen for its quiet character and the kind of foot traffic that comes from people with an unhurried purpose. The name comes from the golden lotus — a symbol we felt suited the work: something that opens gradually and is worth attending to.
Our founder, Khun Wiwat Phonsri, trained in mechanical watchmaking in Chiang Mai before spending several years working alongside a Swiss-trained horologist in Bangkok. When he opened Bualuang, the intention was simple: a place where people could bring a watch — however old, however worn — and be treated with straightforward respect.
Today the team has grown to four, but the approach remains the same. Every piece that comes in receives a proper look-over before any conversation about work. We don't start until the owner knows what we've found and what we think the watch needs. That might sound ordinary, but we've heard enough stories about unexpected bills to know it matters.
Our Mission
To care for mechanical timepieces with the attention they deserve — and to make sure the people who bring them to us feel comfortable and well-informed at every stage.
Our Values
- Transparency before, during, and after every job
- Respect for the character and history of each piece
- Honest timelines — no underestimating to win work
- A calm space where people feel at ease asking questions
Bangkok Roots
We've been in Phra Nakhon since day one. The neighbourhood has changed around us, but the workshop — and the pace of work inside it — hasn't changed much at all.
The People
Who you'll be working with
Wiwat Phonsri

Standards
How we protect your watch
Written condition records
Every piece arriving at the workshop is photographed and described in writing. The record follows the watch throughout and is shared with the owner on return.
Secure storage
Watches not actively on the bench are stored in a locked cabinet with limited access. The workshop is alarmed and monitored outside of business hours.
Calibrated testing tools
We use a timing machine and regulated testing equipment to assess and set movement performance — no guesswork, just measured results we can show you.
Appropriate lubricants only
We use watchmaking-grade lubricants selected for specific movement points — not general-purpose oils. Lubricants are stored and rotated to maintain their properties.
Client consent at each stage
Work on restoration and conservation pieces is staged. We pause and communicate with owners before moving forward — you're in the conversation throughout.

Watch repair and care in Bangkok — the Bualuang approach
Mechanical watches require periodic attention: cleaning, fresh lubrication, and timing regulation keep movements running within acceptable tolerances. How often depends on the watch and how it's used — vintage pieces and daily-wear watches typically benefit from attention every three to five years.
Dial conservation is a separate matter, one that requires a different set of skills and a different kind of patience. A dial is the most visible part of a watch and also, for many owners, the most emotionally significant. We treat dial and hands work as conservation work — the goal is always to preserve rather than alter.
Full restoration is appropriate for watches that have been dormant for years, pieces with significant wear across multiple components, or heirlooms where the owner wants a thorough and documented process. We approach this work unhurriedly, keeping the owner informed and inviting input at each stage.
Located at 17 Ratchadamnoen Road in Phra Nakhon, Bualuang Horology serves Bangkok residents and visitors across the city. We work with both Thai and international clients, with all client communication available in English and Thai.
