Six things that matter to us
Professional Expertise
Our lead watchmaker has over twenty years of experience with mechanical movements. We don't treat watch repair as an improvised activity — it's a trained skill and we take it seriously.
Methodical Process
Each service follows a defined sequence: condition assessment, owner conversation, staged work, and a final check on the timing machine before return. Nothing is skipped because it's inconvenient.
Proper Tools
We invest in calibrated watchmaking equipment — timing machines, movement holders, ultrasonic cleaning, and manufacturer-specified lubricants. The right tools make a meaningful difference to the outcome.
Clear Communication
We describe what we find in plain language, without jargon designed to confuse. You'll know what we're recommending and why, and you'll have the information you need to decide at your own pace.
Transparent Pricing
Our service rates are published and our pricing conversations are straightforward. If work is likely to exceed the standard cost, you'll know before it starts — not when you come to collect.
Care for Sentimental Pieces
We understand that some watches mean a great deal beyond their material value. Inherited and gifted pieces are handled with that understanding — with extra care for the original patina and character.
Expertise
Experience you can rely on
Mechanical horology is a skilled trade. The people on our bench have spent years learning to read the behaviour of movements — not from tutorials, but from the repetition that comes with handling a wide variety of watches over time.
Our founder trained formally and continued learning alongside experienced practitioners. That background shapes how we approach unfamiliar watches and unusual problems.
20+ years of mechanical watchmaking experience on the bench
Hands-on training, not self-taught — built on real foundations
Specialists for movement work and for dial conservation separately
Timing machine used on every serviced movement before return
Ultrasonic cleaning for parts that benefit from thorough treatment
Watchmaking-grade lubricants selected per manufacturer guidelines
Equipment
The right tools make a real difference
Proper watchmaking requires proper equipment. We use a timing machine after every service — not as a gesture, but because it's the only way to know that a movement is running within reasonable tolerances.
We also invest in appropriate lubricants — different for different movement types — and replace them on schedule rather than using them until they're spent.
Service
A conversation before anything starts
Before any work begins, we tell you what we've found. If the watch needs more than you expected, or less, you'll know. We don't assume what you want — we ask.
For restoration work, that conversation continues throughout the process. You can pause, ask questions, or decide not to proceed at any stage — and we'll tell you where things stand honestly.
Condition review shared with owner before work commences
Work pauses available on restoration projects — no pressure to continue
English and Thai communication — no language barriers
Comparison
Typical approaches vs. ours
Watch repair varies considerably in practice — here's how we differ from less considered providers.
Typical Providers
- Work begins without a condition report or owner briefing
- No written record of what was found or what was done
- Final cost not discussed until collection
- Dial polishing offered without explaining what it removes
- No timing verification after service
- Owner not kept informed during longer jobs
Bualuang Horology
- Condition review and conversation before any work starts
- Written record kept for every piece, shared on return
- Pricing discussed in advance — no surprises at collection
- Dial work approached conservatively — we explain what we're doing
- Timing machine check on every serviced movement
- Regular updates on longer restoration projects
What Sets Us Apart
Distinctive features of our service
The right to pause
On restoration work, you can stop at any stage. We structure the process with natural pausing points and will tell you exactly where things stand if you decide not to continue.
A written record for every piece
Not a verbal promise — a document. Your watch's condition before and after is photographed and described, and a copy comes back with the watch.
Conservation over transformation
We don't advocate for making old watches look new unless that's what you want. Our default is to preserve — working with the character of the piece rather than against it.
Bilingual service
All client communication is available in English and Thai. You won't need to rely on partial translations when discussing something as precise as watchwork.
